Hockey Coach=Fall Guy

There has been many changes in coaching recently. Jacques Martin, Craig Mctavish and Tony Granato to name a few. The consensus is that you can't fire a whole team for the misfortunes of failure, so the coach is usually the fall guy.

I disagree.

It should and always be the GM that gets the boot. For example, Pat Quinn is a great and respected coach. He's going to do well in Edmonton. He's been around the league for so long and he's got his own coaching philosophies that have served him well. So, what happened to him in Toronto? The Toronto Maple Laughs, I mean Maple Leafs are an entertainment team. They'll sell out no matter what and putting a winning product on the ice is not their concern. However, Brian Burke is running the show now and it appears that the Maple Leafs drought will soon be over. The fans have spoken and they want the Stanley Cup back in Hog Town where it rightfully belongs.

I've always wondered why they hardly competed for the Cup when great players have skated through their ranks. Players like Gilmour, Sittler, Salming, Clark; their numbers hanging from the rafters a reminder that they've come close. Mark 2012 on the calender.

So, now that the Hamilton Tigers will be taking to the ice very soon, my vote for coach is the mighty Ted Nolan.
